Is Firing a Patient Acceptable?

Have you ever had the urge to fire a patient for being uncooperative? Did you act on that urge? One of the most important things a provider can do is build patient relationships that keep individuals engaged with their own healthcare. Unfortunately, whether doctors like it or not, some patients just don’t do what they are asked to do – even if that means their health is negatively impacted. While it isn’t something physicians like to do, the truth is that sometimes firing a patient is not only acceptable, it is necessary.
