Find me on:

Every day is patient safety day. Or it should be. That’s what leads us to the theme of this year’s Patient Safety Awareness Week happening March 13-19, 2016. According to the National Patient Safety Foundation, one in ten patients develop a health care acquired condition during hospitalization.

The Center for Patient Safety (CPS) is joining the United for Patient Safety initiative along with thousands of other healthcare professionals across the nation. Safe care is CPS’s focus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 366 days a year, so they are helping to raise awareness by providing tools and resources for improving patient safety efforts. You don’t want to miss out!

How can you and your organization participate?

  1. Download CPS’s free Patient Safety Awareness Week Kit. The toolkit includes a Guide with tips and suggestions along with downloadable banners, posters, postcards and more.

  2. Review CPS’s Consumer Guide for Addressing Patient Safety Concerns.

  3. Administer a survey on patient safety culture. Not sure how to get started? CPS can help you create a successful safety culture survey. Make sure to inform staff of when the survey will be, acknowledge the positive results and thank them for participating.

  4. Most importantly—maintain the Momentum! Attend CPS’s upcoming 10th Annual Patient Safety Conference on April 7, 2016 in St. Louis, MO. This year’s theme is “A Culture at the Crossroads”. Early-bird registration ends Friday, February 26 so register today.

Are you really ready to put time and focus into patient safety? There are a few different ways you can take your participation to the next level.

    1. PSO DAY! CPS is excited to announce the return of PSO Day as a companion event with our Annual Patient Safety Conference. All CPS PSO Hospital Participants are eligible to attend this FREE event. Register now.

    2. Poster Presentation. CPS invites you to share your successes in providing safe care. The deadline to submit is Friday, Feb. 26, 2016.

    3. Sponsorship/Exhibitor Opportunities. The sponsorships include year-round recognition on our website, social media promotion, promotions at conferences and more.
